How long does it take to register a company?

​

Most companies are officially registered within 1–2 business days once we receive your completed information and signed forms. You’ll receive confirmation directly from us as soon as your company is live.

What information do I need to get started?

 

 

 

You’ll need basic details like what you want to name your amazing new business, as well as the names of the people who will own and control the business (which might just be you!).  ralphy’s step-by-step form makes it simple - no legal jargon or guesswork.

 

Do you give legal advice?

 

 

No — ralphy is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
Our services are designed to assist with company registration and related administration only.  While our founder has legal experience, we don’t provide advice tailored to your personal circumstances. You should always seek independent legal, tax, or accounting advice before making business decisions.

How much does it cost to register a company through ralphy?

 

 

We offer fixed fee plans starting from as little as $149.99 + Companies Office filing fee. Lawyers and accountants charge by the hour.  Unlike them we work efficiently since our cost is fixed and you are not left with any nasty surprises!  You can choose to pay upfront or, for some of our plans, spread the cost over 12 months, depending on your budget and goals.  See our Pricing Page for details.

What’s included in the price?

 

 

 

Every ralphy plan includes:

  • Company name reservation with the New Zealand Companies Office

  • Registration and incorporation of your new company with the New Zealand Companies Office.

  • Digital incorporation documents (certificate of incorporation, New Zealand company number, company records required under Companies Act 1993 etc.)

  • Ongoing support and guidance during the setup process

 

Some plans include extras like tax registration (mandatory if you are earning revenue), annual obligation assistance (required under the Companies Act 1993) and much more.  See Pricing Plans for the full breakdown.

What if I already started my business as a sole trader?

 

 

 

No problem! It is possible to start as sole trader and later register a company to separate personal and business liability. We can guide you through that transition smoothly.

Can I make changes to my company later?

 

 

Yes, of course!  Businesses are constantly evolving and it is very normal to need to make changes to your company records.  While filing these changes are a necessary requirement under law, it is not the reason you started your business in the first place!  That's where ralphy comes in.  We can help file any changes you need to your company records so you never have to worry about them yourself!

What happens after I pay?

 

 

 

Once payment is received, you’ll get an email with a link to your company information form. After you submit it, we will review and make sure all the information is clear.  Once we confirm all the information is accurate and complete, we’ll prepare your documents for e-signature.  Once signed, ralphy files your information and your company is born!  After your company is incorporated, you’ll receive your official registration details and you're free to take on the world!
